Yahoo, finally printed my first shirt. A couple of questions regarding ImageClip.
1) When pressing (Phoenix Phire) the red and green papers together, is it best to have one or the other on top? With the paper sizes slightly different, the red briefly stuck to the heating element when I had the red on the bottom.
2) I'm using an Oki 5500 for printing. Are there toner adjustments for putting on more toner when printing?

first answer green goes on the botton
second question use the heavy paper setting and adjust your saturation to max
How long would the adhesive last on pre-prepped transfers?
or how long can I store a pre-prepped transfer and what would be the best way to store them?
I'm thinking I would like to be able to prep several transfers ahead of time. meaning press the red and the green ahead of time, then go to my show thus allowing me to simply press the transfer once there.

Any ideas?

hi bill,
i have some from july of 06. i store mine in a poly bag like any other transfer. u also have to be very careful with them. they handle okay, but they will chip like others. don't stack heavy objects on them and keep the moisture away. they will be fine.
I found ONE company that sells the A4 size but I find it strange that since a LOT of people use the Oki lasers, thus can print banner size up to 47 inches? long you'd think the papers would be availabe in the 8.5 X 14 or better yet in rolls.
Am i missing something?
I tested the imageclip the other day and was pretty happy but I sure would like to be able to print larger than 10 inches wide.
I know I can purchase the 11X17 paper and cut it down but that seems like a waste - is than my only option?

first ,what size paper do u have. second, unless u own a tabloid printer u will be cutting down. third, the paper ranch sells 8.14. fourth, i buy 11.17 and cut to 8.14
landscape mode and i'm good. sometimes u have to make do until later. fifth, what size prints r u trying to do. the average is 8.10
10.10. 12.12 11.13. do u get it.
I have an order for some 5X tees and the 10inch papers would look rather small on that big of a man... I was hoping to find larger papers so I can resize the image for the larger shirts.

the paper ranch... i'll google it - thanks
i've done plenty of 5x tees even when i had the tabloid printer i had to use one and a half sheets on certains designs. u have to do 2 8.14 that will give u a good size for graphic 16 highthat is more than enough. . i hope u are charging for that big shirt. also again the average print is 11.13 and 12.12.
i hope this helps. i am very critical of sizes on shirts also. i have never had any complaints on my 4 or 5x. the customer was just glaad to get a good design on the special size. i have seen 5x shirts screened and digital with the average sizes on them it's all in where u place it.
I'll check southwest Specialties also - thanks for that...
the size referrances help a lot - thanks dodank. and yea I am charging for the 5X.
I had a bugger of a time finding the right color and size - thank god for the weekly sales, I was up bright and early to get in before they sold out.
I'm using a Oki 5200 for laser and an Oki 3200 for sub.
hi everyone...i'm also trying to get the perfect print with imageclip, but i keep running into the same HUGE problem that i'm hoping someone can help me with.
i have printed my test graphics using xerox, HP and OKI laser printers. I have heated my Might Press up to 215 degrees (per the instructions from Coastal). I have pretty tight pressure (from what i can tell). But when i press green to red, NONE of the ink transfers. Does anyone know what could be going on here?
Am i putting sheets in the wrong order? i do it with red on top. do i need to adjust pressure? heat? time? All three?
I don't own the OKI printer, so i have to keep running down to staples to get test prints done. it's kind of a pain i've seen the results with imageclip and it does exactly what i'm looking for, but i just can't make it work.
I experienced the same frustration with "nothing transferring".
I reread the instructions a hundred times, tried changine temp, time, pressure...then I reread the instructions again....VERY CAREFULLY.
When you press the red to green no toner will transfer from the red to the green! The green sheet is simply putting a special coating on the red sheet that allows the toner to be "transferred" to the shirt like in a regular transfer!
So, I pulled all the what I thought were failures out of the trash and lo and behold, they worked fine...although I had to throw the wadded up ones away!

please help a noob!
hi
first, your temp is ok. what pressure set r u using for the firts press red/green.
my heat press is totally manual, so i'm not able to be very specific. all i can say is that it "feels" medium to high pressure. It's very hard to shut the handle, so i assume the pressure is pretty high.
also, i've tested with other paper (duracotton, ironall, etc.) using the same pressure level and those have all turned out fine. that's why i didn't think it was the pressure.
do you think it might be the printer? i haven't seen many HP users doing the imageclip? but i did try the OKI printer with zero luck.
thanks so much for your response! i'm kind of bummin' out on this.
