Hi guys,
Ive been using an epson D88 (I think its basically the europen C88).
Does this mean , all inks for this printer will to be durabite inks if I go for some cheaper inks (some compatable inks are $10 per set as opposed to $50 for the geniune stuff).
I just tried some & have had problems with the ink bleeding in the wash. The problem with these inks is that most of the compatbles dont put any information on their boxes. So I dont know if thier suitable for T shirt printing, but if their compatable with this type of printer does that not make them all suitable??
Cheers
Stevo
NO. Non Epson inks will NOT be Durabrite inks; they will most likely be a low-grade dye-based ink that will wash out. All any 3rd party ink maker means by 'compatible' is that it will print through the printer; not that it lives up to the same standards.
Either use OEM Durabrite ink, or a good, bulk, 3rd party pigmented ink (e.g. Magic Mix, Coastal's, etc.).
Thank you for the information. We are a new tee shirt company and we used a 3rd party compatible ink and it is running on all of the white shirts. Does anyone have information on the best site to buiy bulk good quality ink? Thanks

Basically, you want to get some variety of pigmented ink. This can be the Epson OEM Durabrite inks or a 3rd party pigmented ink, such as TLM's Magic Mix inks, Coastal's pigmented inks, etc.
I would check to make sure that your epson oem ink is durabrite. I have an epson photo600 and the ink is oem ink from epson and still will wash out when washed.
So I don't believe all epson models utilize the right ink
Im just new. I use an Epson D88 and it uses Durabrite ink. Can nayone confirm if the original Epson durabrite is suitable for subllimation or not?
Many Thanks
Paul
The durabrite Inks I have seen are all pigmented inks which would make them suitable for Ink Transfers. This should not be confused with sublimation process. There is a wealth of information on this site that will do a better job of clarifing the difference than I could if you search sublimation.
The Epson inks ARE NOT for sublimation. for that you need the sublimation ink and sublimation paper. you CAN buy sublimation ink carts for the C88 series but I think those are being phased out as is the C88 series...it is being replaced by the C120..so far I have not seen any dye sub carts for that one. but there are CIS dye sub inks for the Epson 1400
