Matter how? Like printing considerations? Design considerations? Wholesale cost considerations?

i think what i'm trying to ask is...is there any technique wise difference in putting a design on a white shirt or a black shirt?..i have heard that putting a design on a black shirt requires different paper, color ink and different technique. is this true?

It depends on your printing type you're using? Heat transfers, screen printing, direct to garment machine, embroidery, etc?

with dark shirts you just need to remember you will need to print an white underbase under the colors in order for them to show up. For the most part this is all you need to worry about.

a underbase is a white print directly under another color. it is required when printing most colors on dark t-shirts.

If you see a black shirt with lemon yellow on it. Ther is going to be white printed under the yellow in order for the yellow to show up on the black shirt.

oohh....so this is required for when you are printing an image from your printer onto the transfer paper onto the shirt. correct? so, if i'm not mistaken, in order to transfer a pink heart onto a black shirt i would have to iron on the white transfer, then a different one with the pink heart on it. correct? would there be a chance of the white being burned and possibly ruin the pink heart?....so just to make my life easier...use a white shirt. lol.

Fluid is talking about "screen printing" and it sounds as if you are talking about "heat transfers".

Two very different printing processes, but the confusion is coming in because you didn't really specify what type of printing YOU were doing (even though I asked a couple of times)

To transfer a pink heart to a black t-shirt using your home printer you would need to use OPAQUE transfer paper that is specially make for dark shirts.

This video should help: http://www.t-shirtforums.com/t-shirt...les/t6351.html

I'll move this thread to the heat transfer section (instead of the wholesale t-shirts section) so people will know how to give you the best help appropriate for what you're doing.

I think you need to read through the many threads on these boards and soak up some very basic info. The difference between black and white is self explanatory..its black and white. From design, printing, cost, production and market the differences are numerous. The answeres are here but you need to be specific and do some reading.
