Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
hi all,im a newbie to the whole heat tranfer thing, but i have made some very good shirts and sold quite a few.for a setup i have a epson 1280 with a ciss i bought on ebay with pigment ink,i know what ur thinking those ebay ones are junk and maybe they are but i have had good results with it until now.im getting los of banding, maybe due to the fact that it wasnt used for a few weeks while i was on vacation, but even worst my colors look crappy and they are not what i have on my screen.colors are replaced by others and looked washed out.i didnt have this problem when the system was brand new,its not that old to begin with, not even a year old.plz plz plz help.i have orders to fill.is there some kinda printer tune up i can do or some kinda lube i can spray in the printer,it seems to running slower almost like parts are sticking.
It sounds like the heads are clogged or the lines might need to be cleaned out. If they sit for a while it can happen. You might try head cleaning it a few times. If that doesn't work, there are some threads here about how to clean out the heads or the lines.

thank u so much for responding.ive cleaned the head a million times and still the banding, but what is even worst is the output color, its like certain colors that should be printed are being replaced by other colors.
I've had the exact same problems with a CIS with pigment ink bought on Ebay. I just kept playing with the colors and now it's working about 90% as far as colors go. I have to do a head cleaning every few hours or it doesn't print enough of a certain color and the image looks dull or too light.
Personally, if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have bought a CIS off of Ebay. There's a reason they're cheaper than other Internet sellers.
Are you still using the ink that came with the original system? (Just curious)
I can't give you specifics, but what has worked for me is to do a few head cleanings and print out a test. Then, I'll find a small image on my hard drive and print it out on a normal sheet of paper numerous times until the colors get to where I want them. Try increasing the 'saturation' and other settings under the 'advanced' button inbetween printings. That's the only way I've had any success.

thanx everyone for helping me out on this one.i guess ur right,i shouldnt have bought my ciss off of ebay.its weird cause i had the thing working perfectly, well besides a few banding issues, but the colors looked fine.oh,and yes im still using the same ink that came with the system.

Hi Deenastee,
Set your DPI setting in the printer up a notch. Instead of DPI, I think the 1280 reads Normal, Fine, etc. If it's setting on Normal go to Fine. If it's setting on Fine go up to the next level.
Mine has DPI settings and about 6 years ago I went from 360 DPI to 720 DPI and have not had a banding problem since. Have a BLESSED evening.
