Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
My husband and I are new to the T-shirt industry. We are still in the setting up stages. We are going to purchase a heat press and I interested in opinions of which is the best machine to buy and why?
I'm sure that one of the senior members is going to provide you with the link regarding this topic, but I just bought a mighty press 15x15 from coastal for $650. I just finished doing this research and I found that most people will suggest buying a minimum of a mighty press 15x15 or a HIX 15x15 to start out. You can, however, spend much more. Also, try bestblanks.com, Imprintables warehouse or coastal buisness supplies for purchasing. Happy to share any other information, I just spent a few weeks doing all the research that you are about to do.
I also noticed from my research people are saying good things about HIX, so I purchased a HIX 6600D (16x20 Press) should get it Tuesday. I decided to go with the bigger one now so I wont have to upgrade later.
I purchased a Stahls Hotronix 16 X 20 heatpress about a year ago. I've used this model in the past and didn't have any experience with any other make/model of heatpress so that's the main reason I went with it. I also have heard nothing but good things about Stahls heatpresses - especially that they will last a long time. I remember reading about a guy who bought a Hotronix press sometime in the 80's and it still was working like it did on day one and had never been serviced - so that was a big deciding factor for me.
I'm sure that there are some other great brands out there that cost less (my press new is about $1500).
This press literally paid for itself 2 months after I opened my doors. Our problem wasn't finding business, it was finding employees that had an IQ higher than Paris Hilton's.
