Default non contact temp

I got a non contact temp guage from Radio shack but it wouldn't work on my heat press. Something about it not working on reflective surfaces.
The press is a Hix 15x15 swingman.
Any one got one that works. ? If so were did you get it and whats the model number ?
Any one use any of the ones Harbour freight adverstises ?

Thanks
Mark

It depends on the press, IIRC. Some have reflective top platens, others don't. I think it also depends on the non-contact gauge: some can read off reflective surfaces, while others cannot.

I think there was a past thread or two talking about this in a bit more detail; failing that, try Googling for more specific info regarding reflective-reading gagues.
