Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I'm looking for the templates to use when placing letters/numbers to heat press. I thought I heard awhile back stahls carries them but I couldn't find them there. I'm hoping there is such a thing! Mainly templates for laying out curved lettering like a half moon. I hope I explained this right.
Do you mean you want to arch your wording like half circle top or bottom or put text in circle,if so my paint program I use has all that stuff in with text..Just click on text and options should show there..HOPE THIS HELPS...
Templates huh? havent heard of them, I use design software like aries mentioned...
im not sure if its for clothing but i used it for art class back in college. you can find them at any local art supply store. I beleive they are called arches..carefull they are made out of plastic so for heat pressing, it might not be the best idea....
I have not seen one of those templates in some time. The templates I have seen were really just a piece of cardboard that was cut in a rounded, semi-circle like shape and than had some markings around the curved edge that were used for spacing the letters. These were used more back in the days when vinyl cutters were not as readily available or cost affordable. These templates were made for spacing individual pre-cut letters / numbers.
To create this would be quite easy from an old cardboard box (and is probably the reason that Stahls stopped carrying them). Use an assortment of buckets of different sizes and draw a complete circle on the cardboard. Cut out the circle. Cut the circle in half. Then, take one of the half-circles and cut the some of the flat portion off for a less of a curve. Use a protractor to create the markings going around the curved edge for the spacing of letters. Use a smaller size bucket to get get different sizes / heights of curves.

Thanks for any help,

Well I guess I could use software to print out a arch to use for a template. I was thinking there was a plastic arch that would be durable enough to last. They wouldn't be used with the heat press, just for placement of the letters so they have a nice even arch, then it's removed before heat pressing. Maybe I just imagined there is such a thing!
If you want it made out of plastic, take the same concept that I posted above and go to aa local awards shop or a company that laser engraves. It should cost you less than $20 for the work if you are able to lay the design out yourself.
