Default fuser oil

We have a Xerox Phaser 8500N. I have no idea how to find out if this uses a fuser oil toner or not. Does anyone know or have any suggestions on what paper to use, or if it is possible to print transfer paper with this printer? We were trying to use our regular HP printer, but found out that the ink we have does not work (bleeds).

Sorry if I did not provide enough info, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

The 8500 is a solid ink printer and you will not be able to use it for transfers. The solid ink is a wax base and if heat is applied, it will smear it to something extremely less than desirable.

Thanks for the reply Jerid. That's what I figured, but thought I would ask.

You may be able to use TransJet II paper in it. I've used it a little in my Phaser 4800. I have not done a *ton* of testing but it does work.

I'm sure you can transfer it, I've done some testing myself. As far as I could tell though, it comes out blurred and the colors mesh too much because of it being wax.

Duracotton blurred in the 4800 but not the TJII

Sorry, I just don't know what printer you are speaking of. There is no Xerox Phaser 4800, are you sure that's the model number?

Just to keep things going... question is... the TranJet II is for an Ink Jet printer and the Phaser 8500N is a laser printer. Are you saying that this paper for an Ink Jet printer would work with a laser printer?

Exactly. I've tried a couple of other papers and they haven't worked at all. One from a company in NH didn't even take the ink. I have more from Colorstar I think that I haven't tested yet.

But the TJII inkjet paper did work. I found that a few had tried this 3-4 years ago with other wax Phasers and a couple of them are still going strong.

I have not ton a ton of testing. Any of my color shifting issues seem to stem from printing, not from pressing. If I ever get caught up with other jobs, I'll spend a day testing this. I need to get more TJII as it is.
