Inkjet or Laser transfer printing on colored shirts I was reading in a previous post about the (NON-OPAQUE) transfers being transparent or translucent and the end result of the color printed being true only for images pressed on white tees.
I had a thought this morning, would it be possible to get a reasonable test result if the image was printed on paper the color of the shirt? Reason I ask is that I don't want to heat transfer a half dozen test prints trying to adjust the color balance to most closely match the customer's desired image when printing on a shirts other than white; specifically, an order for a lot of light blue tees with a company's logo that is dark blue, 2 shades of orange and yellow. If I print that out on light blue paper will I get a close facsimile of the end product? I'd like to use more of the colored shirts but for a lot of color combinations you have to commit to a couple of practice shirts (a couple-three bucks apiece) to balance and adjust the colors. it would be a lot easier to go through a dozen sheets of paper at 20 to 35 cents a sheet.
I would expect some minor differences but do you think the output would be substantially representative? It might e3ven be useful to show the customer that certain color combinations aren't a real good idea.
What do you think?
