Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
1. Yay - Ist ever tee , vinyl attempt - has been washed about 8 times and still looks fantastic.
2. Ist order yay - 3rd attempt at transfer paper (1st attempt learned that hot peel MEANS hot! and fast! - took 4 reheats to get ALL the paper off and pulled the shirt way out of shape. 2nd attempt learnt NOT to reuse the kraft paper as the yellow from the last shirt stays on it and transfers to the next one!
3. Vinyl - learned that the red is not very opaque! (and that i never have to buy birthday presents for mates again!
4. Vinyl - learned that even if some tiny letters blow off and don't necessarily go back on the right way round (the O and A in 'random') they still stick (love the colour of this shirt tho - another birthday prezzie)
5. Opaque transfer after one wash! (Learnt to test things before buying 50 A3 size sheets. Will soon try a white screenprint base with tranfer...(now that the cheap chinese swingaway heat press is fixed )
Cheers to all
Teri

Are 'The Stepfords' a band? I like the design, nicely done!
I don't see much wrong with the A and O in random, and don't understand exactly what went wrong there.
Thanks for sharing the pics and info with us
On second look it was the A and D, they're not quite lined up as they would NOT stick back to the backing, so i had to just put them on the shirt and then put the rest over it.
Yes the Stepfords are some ex-members of Hoodoo Gurus and Paul Kelly (Ozzie bands) with a U.S. singer Monica. Luckily they were happy with white, but they want black shirts next - am working on vectorizing the photo (double eek but a good learning curve).
It feels good when you create your first stuff doesn't it?
What transfer paper did you use, and do you like it?
What vinyl did you use?
Sure does!!
The paper says spectra bright on the back so it probably isnt spectra bright 2 'II'. It still has a rather rough feel/hand after 8ish washes so i'll probably try something else when it runs out.
The vinyl was called Promaflex here so i dont know what the equivalent would be.
Thanks Rusty! after 10 years of graphics work, 6 months of reading the forum, and 66 metres of accidentally bought 'sign' vinyl lol, it's nice to have some encouragement
Nice designs.... I like the Stepfords design..really cool font you used. Mind sharing what font that is? I am currently working on a logo that I think that would fit perfectly.
