Hello everyone,

I was wondering if using plastisol transfers on sheer t-shirts is ok. I am totally new to the t-shirt world so please go easy on me if this sounds silly. I am looking to use Apparel Agents Marlon Tee (has anyone used this style if so any feedback would be great) anyway with the t-shirt being so thin would the plastisol transfer not feel really heavy and a bit cheap or am I talking a load of rubbish? Does anyone here use plastisol transfers on sheer t-shirts and if so what kind of results do you get. Is the finished product good enough for high end retail shops or would screen printing on these be better?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sheer like a polyester mesh jersey yes.

sheer like a lingerie undergarment no.

The really thin cotton type tees (3.3 oz) that when stretched you can see through quite easily if you know what I mean. Not the best description in the world i know but i am a newbie .

lol ...we're all noobbbs.


we've printed on american apparel sheers shirts.

du-no the style number off hand but i think that's what "aa" calls them. Sheer tops/shirts or something.

Yeah thats the kind of fabric i'm on about the AA style that you've printed on. Did you use plastisol transfers on them?? If so did they look and feel ok when done??

yep. Fine.

just like printing on any other fine light weight knits with stretch.

transfers will need to be made for such application.


wont work on Ultra-Sheers.

Cheers for your help T-BOT, but when you say "transfers will need to be made for such application." do you mean I will have to tell the transfer makers that I want transfers made for sheer t-shirts??? Once again sorry if this is a silly question mate.

yep.

do tell them and also send them a fabric swatch.
This way they will print something on it and mail it back to you...sample.


in general, they would need an adhesive base to work at 325-350F low temp, and quick 2-4 sec. press time.... hot peel application. This would make them somewhat stretch resistant and also the quick press time would eliminate some of the problems you may encounter when applying heat to delicate thin light weight knits.


but, they will look and feel like a screen print...sort of.

can't change that.
