Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
A heat press is better because it gives you what you need to create a perfect long lasting garment. A heat press should have even heat throughout the platen, no cold spots. A heat press should have equal pressure throughout the press. An iron does not give even pressure or temperature. I don't suggest using one if you want quality decorated garments.
WHy is a heat press better than a household iron? Im having problems ironing on dark clothing, seems to burn on the clothes. What am i doing wrong?
It seems to me you answered your own question. A heat press is designed to press designs on clothing, an iron is made to iron clothing(although it will work).
hey frank..or is it beanz? hehe. when i looked around for heat presses i did alot of research. all i can say is..your budjet will pretty much decide the quality of the press you purchase. i myself decided on a clamshell type heatpress model "ML" from Stahl. its pretty basic..no digital readouts or automatic release or anything like that. got a good deal on it brand new on ebay. ive had it for about three years now and have had no problems with it. very simple to use. anyways..do a lil research first and im sure youll find the heat press just right for you. good luck.
I must say that your budget will put a constraint on your purchase, but consider one of the medium size presses over the cheaper 9x12 presses like the JP12. I was using a jp12 (JetPress 9x12) and then got a 100+ order. Lining a shirt on that little press is not impossible, but difficult.
I just ordered and received my 16x20 mightypress! It's so sweet. Going to start using tonight. Coastalbusiness.com is offering free shipping over 200 dollars and is you use the code at checkout...5% off. Got mine shipped to my house for $810.
They have other presses as well that might fit your price range and they have been very helpful in all of my transactions thus far.
It's paying itself off with my next two orders!
Good luck!
Kevin
