Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I recently used an iron on transfer that claim they dont crack. I did exactly what the directions said, I washed in cold, and when I took it out of the washing machine it was cracked everywhere and started to peel. The owner of the iron on transfer suggest ironing it on longer and add alot of pressure when ironing it on. But in doing this the transfer starts to burn on the t-shirt. Any suggestions on eliminating the cracking? What went wrong?
To answer your question everyone needs to know some details.
What type of transfers are they?
Hot peel or Cold Peel?
What did the directions tell you?
what type of heat press do you have?
How much pressure did you apply with? what temp.? how long?
Did you prepress the garment?
What type of fabric was the garment?
I agree with Lewis. The person used an iron. Too many people are buying the store brands of transfers which pretty much let the user use an iron because that is the market they reach. They are just not going to get the same result as they would using a heat press. Heat pressing is about 4 things.. type of transfer, amount of heat, amount of pressure and time of pressing. You have no control when using an iron. You can not compete with commercial brand transfers using an iron.
