Default Problem w/cap press

Hello folks!
Hope you can help me.
I have just purchased from China a brand new cap press. It is of a type I have'nt seen before, I have worked with Insta/Hix cap presses earlier, and they all had the metal stretchie thingie underneath to fit inside the rear of the cap to pull the front snugly towards the plate. This one has just an up/down heat press plunger, over a curved base. See attachyed picture.

So far OK, although I miss the stretcher. Have to hold the cap steady while pulling the lever down, which leaves no free hand to hold the transfer paper in place. Therefore it MAY move out of position...

Well, my main problem is that the curve of the base plate is too flat! Modern baseball caps of the hard shell variety w/front seam are "deep curved" in the front, and won't fit snugly up against the flatter base! When I pull the lever down the heat plate scrunches the material and the image will not adhere 100%. It does'nt work, in fact.

Do I have to buy a new press w/steeper curve, or is there ways around this?
Do any of you have any experience with this new type of cap press? The Hixes and Instas I worked with earlier must have been 20 years old or more, so the stretchie thingie is an old invention. Wonder why the people have made a new model....

Looking at the picture, I think I have the same press. I'm no expert on the cap press of Hixes and Instas but I imagine they'll have similar curve base & heat platen, and there won't be too much diffrerence, and you'll have the same problem of sometimes having prints mis-aligned. On hard to align transfers and caps, you can use a clip to hold your cap and then just be careful and slowly lower the heat platen of the press so that your transfers will not move. If still unsatisfied, you can use a thermal adhesive tape to hold the transfer in place. Experience/Practice in this case will give you confidence when pressing caps.

The moving tranfer sheet is probably the least of the worries, I can use thermal tape as you say to keep the image in place. But the curve being different than the curve of a modern cap front is worse, it invariably leads to a bunching up of material when the steep curve of the material is squeezed between two flat curves.
