Default Ive heard some canon printers support sublimation, is mine one of them?

Hey

I have recently bought a Canon PIXMA 9000pro A3 printer. I have heard some canon printers support sublimation, is mine one of them? Do I need to use sublimation if I intend on selling quality shirts? Is there heat press technology that caters for non sublimation transfers? I didn’t buy it specifically for this. I just noticed it supported t shirt transfers which got me thinking that’s something i would like to get in to, having recently done screen-printing for shirts in a graphic design course i attended. Cheers.

I have only heard of one company that supplies dye sub inks for bubble-jet heads...InkJet Inks and Media for Printers and Large Format Plotters. Not sure if they support small format or not.

All the inks available in the US require piezo heads which is Epson plus other wide format machines.

Just did some reading on Canons - some of them are dye-sublimation PHOTO printers, using dye-sub process to print photographs on paper, like SELPHY CP-510 & CP-710.

Yours, according to specs, uses dye-based ink for photos and fine art prints. I think there were posts here comparing dye-sub and dye-based inks.... Got to do a search.

You said "I just noticed it supported t shirt transfers" - does it say anywere you need to use certain type of transfer paper?

If you plan to use cotton t-shirts and black/dark t-shirts sublimation is not an option.

All it says for that is the type of "Canon" brand paper it uses which is TR-301.

ok both the frabic and the colour I plan to use the majority of the time, are you saying that dye-based ink is used for this purpose or is there another type of ink that's better?

Thanks allot for taking the time to help me out.

Cheers
Glen

Neither. Both are lousy, vinyl or plastisol transfers are the way to go for white on black with a heat press.
