Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I need to get a sample by tomorrow for some tee shirts and since I don't have time to order opaque transfers by then, I was wondering how does the HP transfers from the stores hold up. How do they compare with other opaque transfers. I will let them know that there real shirts will be of better quality. However, they just really want to know how its going to look, not feel!
I have never used store transfers personally, but I have pressed a few for other people on my press. They look and feel like crap, but the image quality is ok if you just giving the client an idea of how they are going to look.
As an ex Epson demo rep I know that paper from most manufactures like Epson and HP would not put out Crap.. But they do formulate their paper to work with their ink systems and that you should take note of. Then again a lot of the paper is made for them by the same people that make our "Commercial paper." One thing I would do in the future is get yourself some sample shirts done in advance. make it you portfolio. When I see a client I show them all the processes I can do and have shirts with those processes available. You should have Plastisol, transfer on lights, transfers for darks. If you have vinyl then have that available. I got a client last night who needs 46 shirts. by early next week They told me it was 4 colors and I told them them the plastisol price and said it would be 2 and a half weeks.(I do not do direct screen printing) They had no budget. Then they said these were going to be a one day affair and that they did not need anything fancy but wanted the shirts to look good for the event. We are doing the shirts with Iron All and will complete by Friday. They are happy with the price and time and the shirt sample I showed them. Lou

I apologize Lou.
What I meant is that to me the plastic, glossy look and feel you get from these transfers is below standard to me. I do not like them, but have seen people sell and people buy them. There is nothing wrong with the image quality but these transfers are below the standard of what I would provide to my customers.
My opinion.
