Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hey y'all. I run a heat transfer business and up until now have been using an Epson R210 (after reading some advice from this forum).
This has been fine until now, however at this stage I am printing lots and this is a painfully slow process. On reflection, I can't even remember why everyone chose Epson.
Can anyone recommend a printer model that is MUCH faster (doing 50 prints per night) and preferably with an optional sheet stacker? This can be Epson or otherwise (if other printer brands work for heat transfers).
The R1800 prints pretty fast. It works very well with some of the transfer papers I've used. You need to go laser if you need something faster. I use an Oki 5200 and its very fast. It doesn't do great photos, though.
Yes, a laser printer or the bigger CLC's will do the job faster. Some can even print A3 or 11 x 17 size papers. And more important is that you'll get much better quality.
Epsons are the best choice because they use a piezo print head which doesnt heat the ink and clog the head. Depending on the model most Epsons have 6 ink tanks and have a lot of CISS models to choose from.
The c88 came out then they added the c88+, why? because they are faster. I would bet the c88+ is almost a third faster then the r200. Also you can apply a CIS system to it. Lou
