Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Ok, I got a heat press bought. I ended up with a 15x15 mighty press. Now, where do I buy a teflon slip cover for the bottom platen? or is it just a flat sheet?thx, D
the teflon cover and teflon sheets protct your press from being ruined by ink off transfers. You can buy them at most supliers that caryy the heat press.good luck .....JB
Plain paper won't prevent the cloth from scorching if you have to use a longer time when pressing a garment. A teflon sheet can withstand very high heat and can be used on top of a transfer after the release paper has been removed in case you have to repress it.

If you have a teflon pad you can just flip the shirt over for a second press. Plain paper will work for most temps and dwell times except for dye-sub which is hot and a long dwell. Teflon or craft paper is best for vinyl after the backing has been removed prior to a second press. Also best for digital transfers (opaque paper) on darks and anytime there is a combination of print techniques or multiple print locations. I have a teflon pad but not a teflon sheet and generally do a workaround to solve my print issues...I will get a sheet eventually. I also use the backing paper from sign vinyl which has a coated release side for just about everything. You cant use regular paper on heatpress vinyl once the mylar is removed as any extra glue will stick to it.
