Talking newbie question, bear with me

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and also to the t-shirt business. My sister and I are trying to start something on the side where we custom design onesies and shirts for babies. I was wondering if it would be good to use heat transfers to start since i dont have much money to work with. How do they hold up? Will it look like a quality item? How long will the print last? will it fade or crack? or How could I make it last longer? So many questions, so little time! Please help! thanks

Default Re: newbie question, bear with me

Welcome to the forums! Glad to have another kidswear designer on board.
I use ironall inkjet transfer paper & it holds up very well to washing & drying.
For dark garments I use custom plastisol transfers & those are similar to screenprinting.
Onesies are not worn as long as other t's cause babies grow fast so the inkjet transfers from IronAll work very well for the custom designs. I use pigment inks to print & fabric paints along with IronAll & they are extremely durable to many, many washings. These of course are just my views, others here may have different ideas.
