Default 12x19" press - drawbacks?

Hi

I'm thinking of getting an 12x19" swing heat press (seen on ebay) as I only have capacity to print the smaller transfers (and have limited space) - can you see any draw backs?

Also when using iron all on front and back of a shirt, will the first transfer be OK being heated again when pressing the second one on?

Thanks

Richard

The press size should work well enough, though you may find it a bit limiting if you want to expand to bigger pritns in the future.

When pressing something on both sides, you need something to protect the platens from the previous transfer. Generally, you'll want a teflon pad across the bottom platen of the press, so if any ink transfers from the 1st print it just goes to the teflon and not the press itself.

I've been shopping around a lot...12x19 sounds like kind of an odd size...are you buying one of those George Forman griddles with the wooden handle?

That's what I was thinking - sounds more like a cooking implement or pants press than a heat press.

If you have limited space, a swing press is not the best choice. You will need at least double the size of the press just for operating room.

You know...now that I think about it...It's probably a typo & they're talking about a 9x12 swinging geo. knight jet press...

The JP12? That would definitely make a lot of sense.
