Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
i was just wondering... is it ok to opporate a heat press in the bedroom with the different inks and transfers or do it have to be in a vinted area like a garage?
do they use alot of electricity?
I think the biggest problem you will have is power. Depending on what you have, they can pull quite a few amps. You'll most likely have to have a dedicated outlet for your press only.

We've been running our press in my room for quite a while now without any problems. The one note I would make is to be careful if you have any pet birds -- using teflon (teflon sheets, sometimes the press itself has teflon on it, etc.) can kill birds.

That really makes me wonder what it does to people.
Power really isn't that big of an issue. Breaker wise that is. Im running mine a 20 amp breaker and I haven't popped it yet. I would make it a dedicated circuit though. I wouldn't run my press, plotter and computer on the same circuit. Just to let you compare your setup against mine. I have a Stahl's Mity Press 15 x 15. I press at temps around 300 to 340 all the time.
