They do use a lot of electricity. You might want to have an electrician do a check-up before you decide to get a press. See these threads:

minor heat press setback - we need more power Jim!

Heat Press Power Problem!

I think you should be fine using it in a bedroom as long as there is some ventilation. A fan and an open window should be ok.

I agree.

I think the biggest problem you will have is power. Depending on what you have, they can pull quite a few amps. You'll most likely have to have a dedicated outlet for your press only.

We've been running our press in my room for quite a while now without any problems. The one note I would make is to be careful if you have any pet birds -- using teflon (teflon sheets, sometimes the press itself has teflon on it, etc.) can kill birds.

That really makes me wonder what it does to people.

Why, completely harmless, of course! On an unrelated note, I'm selling teflon, anyone want some??

Not much though in reality, I think. Birds are especially sensitive; that's why they use canarys in mineshafts and such.

Power really isn't that big of an issue. Breaker wise that is. Im running mine a 20 amp breaker and I haven't popped it yet. I would make it a dedicated circuit though. I wouldn't run my press, plotter and computer on the same circuit. Just to let you compare your setup against mine. I have a Stahl's Mity Press 15 x 15. I press at temps around 300 to 340 all the time.
