Default I love my screenprinter...

...he is reliable, convenient, honest and reasonable.

I now need him to heat press some transfers. I am selling Little Girl's Tees with a coordinating Teddy Bear Tee. He is charging me $1.50/Girl's Tee and $1.00/Tedy Bear Tee to heat press the transfers. This is just the heat pressing charge. It sounds high to me...is it reasonable?

The problem is that the Teddy Bear Tees are pricing out too high... The tees themselves cost $1.00-$1.50, about .20 for the transfer and then the $1.00 for the heatpress. Plus I would like to put a label in the Tedy Bear Tee. So the cost of this tiny Tee is $2.70. I would need to sell it to my stores for at least $5.00 and then it would retail for $10.00. I think that is very high.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

$1/shirt is fairly normal for a pressing charge, though $0.50/shirt is not unheard of.

The price is reasonable, but if it's too high it's too high.

I agree, get yourself a heat press and do it yourself. Youll get the money back in not ime. I believe we charge $0.50 for pressing. Like Lewis mentioned $1 isnt too bad. Your best bet is to get a press and do it yourself

That's about an average price for small quantity heat pressing. When you get into the thousands of shirts, you can find a price as low as $.25 per shirt.

How can one profit at $1 dollar per shirt when transfer and shirt cost $2 (not to mention the time involved)

You also have to remember, if you have a great product, people will pay the price. It's not gouging, it's supply and demand...

Thanks for all of you input!

Transfers are new to me. I have always screenprinted slogans and added
Rhinestone/Nailhead motifs. My tops sell in high-end specialty stores. This new idea is definitley a lower priced product and I am having trouble getting my costs down.

The poster was asking about the pressing charge only. The other costs are separate.
