Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hey What It Do Yo I Was Wondering If The Heat Press Machine's Can Put Graphics On To A Skate Board Deck There Wood And There Is A Slight Concave To Them Has Any One Tried Or Do We Just Kinda Know That It Isn't Going To Work Please Get Back To Me
P.s. If Any One Is Trying To Get Rid Of A 15x15 Press I Would Like To Buy It But The Ones I Found New Are Hella Expensive And I'm New To The Game So I Don't Want To Break The Bank On One.
I think usually, they use stickers produced by a Roland versacamm print/cut machine and laminated. You can also use heat transfer on woods and other hard materials using special transfer papers. Here's a sample video on heat pressing on wood: http://www.iccink.com/forever/videos/1/38.wmv
Yes, graphics on a skateboard are applied using heat and pressure. No, I dont think a standard heatpress can do it. Its a Plastisol style screened design process. Gotta love "How it's made." on Dicovery channel. If you could come up with a roller press that applied heat at the same time, youre good to go. The rollers would have to flex to form to the varied way a deck changes. And then youd need a curing rack.
I know we can do like wraps with our versacamm that can cover skate boards.. they are then laminated.. i do thin that the method Hammered talks about is much more long lasting tho.. and prolly the best way to go.. I think the vinyl from the roland the laminate would get scratch or could get gouged.

You can check eBay and craigslist for used presses. Also some come up for sale every now and then in our classifieds.
