Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Is there, or could there be constructed,
A chart that shows which paper goes with which technique(s) or with what printer? I.e. which papers are inkjet, which are laser which are fuser oil which are non fuser, etc?
Seems to me with all the knowledge flowing back and forth, if it was in a chart or grid somewhere on here we could check it out rather than ask the same questions over again. I just saw where someone had a problem with inkjet and another recomended switching to laser paper-- no indication if they meant laser paper with inkjet printing or simply switching to laser printing.
Is there one big guide that sorts it out so we can pick the most appropriate paper to start experimenting with?
thanks
Re: grid chart or paper reccomendations on forum??
I think so,
I mean even if it just let's us know that Iron all jet flex and Hyatt are probably the same paper, or that duracotton 98 will melt in you non oil laser or that ..... I know blah blah blah.
Or which company puts out what paper and the contact info or even just a grid with the paper, type and inkjet or laser and the paper name itself is a hyper link to the manufacturer where we could then find out the distributors.
Lots of deas for it, but not real set up savy.

The nature of forums is that many questions will be asked again and again by people who haven't seen the information before. That's totally OK
If you have time, it would be great if you could put that type of chart together with the information you see floating around and post it in the forum.

I agree a grid like this would be EXTREMELY useful. Especially to newbies that need to purchase everything from the beginning. Vetrans could just refer them to the chart instead of to a thread where they have to spend DAYS and DAYS figuring it all out with all kinds of industry terminology challenges, as well as other info not necessarily pertinent to the subject matter.
Perhaps a survey thread can be posted for all those experienced members to just give specific answers to specific questions (not in conversation form). It would be much easier and much less time consuming to compile the information that way than to go through all the posts.

It's going to take some time to find the information, but it's out there
With a little research and time, I'm sure you could put a chart like that together.

The best thing I can suggest to both newbies and long time members of the forum is that if you have ANY question, just ask.
When directed to a thread where you can't find the answer you're looking for, just ASK again Most of the time the answer can be found be reading a couple of posts in a thread, but if you don't understand a specific terminology, then ask about it, or search for it in the forums.
We're working on a resource that is just "answers" without the conversation, however, it's a challenge to prioritize which answers need answering first. Each person has a different way of learning and a different skillset, so we're trying to put it together the best we can
Re: grid chart or paper reccomendations on forum??
I think some of what would help is a list of simply what is laser, what is inkjet and what is equal to what -- that is I have figured out that one paper goes by several names depending on the company selling it. But which one(s) I can't seem to keep track of.
I'm not looking so much (right now) for a review type listing as just a "sort it all out" listing grid. Just the paper, alternate names, which printer (laser or inkjet, not brand) and who carries it links.
The rest I think we can figure out.
THen again, if one paper is carried by several suppliers, maybe they don't want us to know that "someone else" carries it for less under a different name....?

That will usually help people give you the specific answer you need. Then, if someone else has the same question, we can point them to your original question
So if you're curious about the different laser transfers, then post a new question and ask, and someone will probably answer it.
If you want to know about the different names for ironall paper and where to get them, please post a topic and ask and someone will answer. I know I've answered that question before and listed the names and sources and I don't mind doing it again
