Default New Milford Dark Transfers REVISITED

So, I was reading a thread about chipping and flaking when cutting transfers and I wanted to see if anyone has had my specific problem. I hope I'm not rehashing something that's been gone over and over.

I use dark fabric transfers exclusively (as of recent, the ones from New Milford Photo) and most of my shirt designs are very complex calling for complex diecutting by hand with an Xacto knife.

I noticed recently as I was cutting out some transfers that the ones that had color bleeds past the edge had small particles, or chips/flakes coming off. This led to white showing spuractically around the edges once applied to the shirt.

The ones with black borders was fixed with a Sharpie marker to cover it up, but this should not be nessecary. Circles and squares are not an issue.

The only other time I noticed this was when I tried to cut too many transfers on the same blade. A dull blade will bring on the same results, but this is not the case this time. I even bought a new cutting mat just to be safe!

So my question is, does anyone else have this problem? Like I said it just started happening with the dark transfers from New Milford Photo. If you do, do you have a solution? I obviously like a soft hand (soft as possible) and require transfers for dark fabrics.

If you need to see my designs to understand the complexity please go to my website located under my signature. Thanks a million everyone!

Hi Kurt,

Have you tried contacting New Milford? They might be able to give you some suggestions.

Also I know some people cut opaque transfers with a vinyl cutter. I don't know if that would be any better, but you might consider it.
