Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Anyone know of any company that prices Plastisol Spot Color Transfers By Size and Quantity Only ? ....not including the amount of colors in the pricing.
Someone asked me about it today.... ...I'm stumped, please help me understand if this is possible.

what type of transfers are they ? are they Plastisol ?
...I know multi-color transfers can be made sort of the same way like NYLON transfers are...you know like the ones that print on plastic bottles, man made fibers/clothing etc.... these too are priced by size/qty.

thanks in advance.
Plastisol inks are used almost exclusively for screen printing. Knowing this, I can't imagine a plastisol transfer manufacturer not charging for another screen.

Please Help, I'm a little confused here.
Yes, Nathan told me that they are plastisol transfers. I hope it's OK that I quote a snippet from a recent email from him here.

Freedom is an all plastisol transfer that is produced in a process-like method. It is completely screen printed and the only digital element is in the creation of your artwork
The transfers I got didn't have the spot color reproduction I was expecting (didn't come out as a solid color), but he said that some of the colors I used were out of the color range. They do have 300+ colors that they can print as a solid color.
Re: PLASTISOL TRANSFERS: Priced By Size/Qty ? ONLY!
Sorry for the delayed response. I was at the ISS AC show.
Freedom is based on process technology. It is not exactly the same as 4-color process, but uses the same basic idea to achieve color. That is the best way I can explain it without giving up any secrets.
It is screen printed using plastisol inks. It is designed to give full color options in small quantities. It is an option for those that want the same kind of detail as DTG or Digital Transfers with the washability and ease of use of plastisol transfers.
As far as color range goes, we are building a color pallet of 300+ colors that can be accurately reproduced so that the customer gets the color they pick. Some shades are not going to be available.
It is definitely not recommended for anyone looking match pantones for a client that must have a perfect match. Many corporations are specific about wanting exact matches on their colors. Unfortunately the solution for those accounts is still to pay by the color.
I hope this helps to clear it up. I'll be happy to answer any other questions.
Re: PLASTISOL TRANSFERS: Priced By Size/Qty ? ONLY!
thanks Nathan, thats great news.
Q: is it possible to do them with color blends ? like light yellow to dark orange.
also, do they need a white border around the design ?
the reason I ask is because everyday we turn away jobs because with our 4-color screen print process plastisol transfers and with litho-full color transfers a 500-1000 25x38 size sheet minimum is required.
Re: PLASTISOL TRANSFERS: Priced By Size/Qty ? ONLY!
If they are stock designs they are priced by the design. Custom transfers are always priced by size, amount of sheets and amount of colors. Digital transfers are priced by the size and amounts. I would not recommend this unless it is for small orders or just for certain occasions like birthday parties and not company logos.

It is possible to include halftones in the design. We give the customer an artwork spec to follow in setting up their work. It explains how to format the art to include the blends you are referring to.

Thanks
ok, so it is possible to do half-tones as long as the customer creates the art according to your specs. Good to know.
How about the white border around each design, can it be done without it ?

I wonder if using parchment paper would help with this on any repressing??
