Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I watched those ICC videos and the lou ones and today at the Flea market I watched as a lady was making shirts and pulling the transfers and they all seemed to come off real easy.
Mine seem to start easy and then kinda get hard/stuck. I am using a HIX Swingman 15x15. I am following the instructions per the transfers.
I preheat the shirts for several seconds. like 5.
I let the shirt cool and then put the transfer on and set the timer
close the platen for the amount of time, lift and then rub a cloth around the
transfer for about 3-5 seconds. Then pull the transfer.
They just seem to stick somewhat.
Not sure why. Am I overheating ? under heating ?
Not enough pressure ? THeres no pressure gage on it so not sure how
you tell if its medium or heavy or extreme or too light.
My guess would be that you're not peeling quick enough. Sometimes on a hot peel transfer paper if you wait to long it becomes very difficult. Does the application sheet specify whether it is a hot or cold peel?
Hello
Well the last one said peel hot or cold. IronAll.
The other was from a coastal sample pack and I think they say Peel Immediately.
Also I noticed when I pull the transfer backing off there is like a outline of the transfer in a yellowish color on the paper. Is that normal ? Indication of what I might be doing wrong. ?

It's fairly normal for a bit of yellow to be left on the transfer paper after transferring, possibly depending on your inks. If the design itself (on the shirt) is yellowing, then you may need to adjust your color profiles (search past threads for 'color profiles' or 'yellowing' for more specifics).
I don't think you should need to rub the back of the transfers. Sometimes this is adviseable for plastisol or vinyl, but I've never heard of anyone doing it for normal heat transfers; I'd suggest skippng this step and peeling immediately to see if it comes off more easily.
