Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I find myself spending way too much time working on a quote. I never seem to have a "standard" order and thus never seem to have made up "standard" pricing.
The one I'm working on now will be close to 300 shirts, mostly kids but a few adult t's and tanks in there as well.
The kids shirts will all have the same logo on them. The adults will have the same logo but as a pocket logo (kids will be large and centered). Some of the shirts will have a word on the back.
Obviously I can gang the images but I feel like I put so much work into the production before I even get a price to the customer! The per shirt plastisol cost on the adults will be much less than the kids due to size and how many I can get on a sheet.
I do also take a peek at a couple of suppliers before doing the final shirt order as well, 9 times out of 10 it's the supplier I always use anyway LOL.
Have any of you come up with a decent system for quicker pricing?
I'm wondering if something like, shirt cost x 2 + $1 (or pick your number) per image to be pressed would work for 95% of the orders.
Thanks,
Diane

For 300 printed finished units, why not just send the order to your cantact screen printer ? why go thru the 2 step of printing the transfers and printing again on to the items ? more labour time.
I never seem to have a "standard" order and thus never seem to have made up "standard" pricing.
I don't think there is any "standard" order with plastisol transfers or traditional screen printing. That's why both printing processes have pricing spreadsheets or graphs based on quantity and the number of colors in the design.
For a 300 piece order, it might be worth it to just get contract pricing from a local (or non local) screen printer.
But if you're doing it yourself, then you can work out your labor costs and materials costs using a formula like the one you have above.
The local printer that I know of is $$$$$$$ (even his wholesale accounts say so).
Lucy, I was doing plastisol, not printing them myself.
The wording on the back of the shirts is not consistent, ie there are batches with a certain phrase and then another batch etc. I suppose I can get the front screened and do the backs myself.
I need to put them in her hands by March 7.
I'll check out the other pricing threads - thanks!
