Everyone,
Wanted to say thank you for all your help you gave me. Last night I decided to stick with Press over Screen simply due to the fact I already have the Vinyl equipment.
I took all the advice to heart and this morning started searching. I called over 30 local T-shirt and screen printing companies and ended up driving 1 hour from my house and bought a HIX HT-400 (not digital) 15x15 for only $250.00. He basically walked me through it and showed me how to work everything when I told him I was new and identified the only "problem" with it. The Teflon was wore down but said I could goto the local arts store and pick up a Teflon sheet cheap that will do the job.
On my way back I remembered the Radio Shack post so figure I will pop in and check it out. I walked out with a Epson C88 printer for $40.00.
I think I got a good deal, what do you guys think?

Few questions ...
when we were applying the transfers I noticed there was visable evidence where the paper was that did not have any design on it. Is this because we were using cheap stuff while he trained me? Who is that the final product?
How long will shirts last? He told me about 20 washes but I thought it would last longer.
Would the heat plate Teflon be covered under there warranty? (date on it says 97) Fix it or just use the Teflon sheets?
Gonna put alot of time into it this weekend; any hints, tips, suggestions, comments, and whatever else I forgot is more then welcome and apreciated :-)
.
Sounds like a good deal on a quality press. They typically run 2x to 3x that price new.

You can buy a teflon cover for the bottom and teflon sheets at variouis supply places (Pro World; Boo-Z, etc., Imprintables Warehouse, etc.). I don't believe this is a warranty item.

Excellent price on a great little printer.

I'm assuming that you are talking about an inkjet heat transfer for light shirts? If so, you typically have to trim around your design, leaving about a 1/8" margin. However, you can purchase a new heat transfer paper called Iron All from New Milford Photo which leaves very little (if any) of this "window" where there is no design. It really works great.
Search the forum with Ironall or Iron All and you will find alot of information about it.

I think they will last longer than that from what I understand...probably about double that.

Probably not. Your better off buying a teflon sheet and / or cover for your bottom plate.
Good luck!!
