Default Newbe ADVICE NEEDED: which heat press?

I know you have been asked this sort of question many times, I work with my wife from home (Ireland, west coast) we run a small sign business and have been thinking of adding t-shirts etc to our business as we often get asked if we do them. If you were looking for a t-shirt where we live it's at least 45mins away in another town, seems like there might be an opening to earn a few extra pennys. We have a plotter and a Roland versacamm digital printer.

We have no experience in this trade whatsoever and need advice on what to purchase to get us up and running, from what I can see it looks like a 15" x 15" swing press is needed, advice here would be very helpful. I have made a few phone calls to a couple of companys but not getting the same answers, I have had this before just sales pitch, do I needed another printer.

We would like to be able to do the run of the mill hen party etc shirts, builders name and logos on work ware and maybe if it's possible to use the digital printer for some full coloured work am I barking up the wrong tree.

Regards Russ

ah!, Leadbelly. Love the blues....ever watch the movie ?

I think with the equip. you have plus adding a press 15x15 is ok, bigger may be better but depends on your needs. You will also need roll t-shirt transfer material to use with your plotter.

I dont have the same equip. as you so I can't get into more detail, I'll stop here....

But yes, expanding into making shirts and such is a good idea.

No you are barking up the right tree. You have the vinyl cutter so that is good for doing Vinyl tees. You are getting a press, only I would get a clamshell. The swing takes up more room. I have a 15 x 15 mighty press. A lot of us are doing more with our vinyl cutters than tees also you are working in reverse of us. If you could find a stock transfer company near you that would help as well as plastisol transfers. If you need any more info just ask the questions one of us will surly answer. Lou

Thanks for your support, advice and links very much appreciated. Hi Lucy I have not seen the movie, but it's on my list of to-do. Robert Johnson cross roads would do it for me and in the same breath i'm not really a big blue's fan. I love music across the board it all depends on my mood. I like to beach cast (fishing) this is where I use lead the rest I will leave to your imagination

Regards Russ.
