So, I am going to buy a new printer specifically for heat transfers. I am a first time Epson buyer and new to the whole heat transfer thing. I have done some background research and am leaning towards the 1280, but haven't totally given up on the c88+.

Here is my thinking: the 1280 is probably a better printer for heat transfers. Frankly, I am a little surprised that so many people seem to go for the c88+. Can a printer that cheap really give good quality prints?

I make baby clothes, so wide format printing is not an issue.

Any info / suggestions you can offer is appreciated!

Print quality is pretty good and it's only $80. What's not to like? If you need more you're not out very much money. Don't think of it as getting a printer but rather paying retail for a set of carts and getting a free printer to use them on.

if you are only doing small gear the c88 is fine. 40 bucks at radio shack i believe someone posted.

I have both, the 1280 gives me more trouble (head clogs) If you don't need the larger size go with the 88 the print quality is same on both.
