Default Iron all- or soft feel?

I purchased some Iron All from Milford Photo last week and I really like the soft feel it has. I just don't like when I print sometimes I will have a little speck that didn't get printed or it flaked off after printing. It doesn't look too bad becuase it's just a speck but I'd prefer not to have it How is the soft feel paper from visual color? Is it just as soft? Does it flake? Which is better

Both papers are exactly the same (from the same manufacturer, just with different names)

No they are not Rodney. I found out they are Visual is manufacturing their own brand. I was told that Iron All is coming out of the UK but I can't confirm that. Lori, were you using old iron All or new updated? Lou

Where did you hear that from? Last I heard, they were both the same paper, just under different names (kind of like the transjet paper).

I could be wrong, but it could be that there's some misinformation out there.

Actually I heard it from Visual Color. Larry the sales guy called me just a few days ago. We talked about the paper. I thought it was the same also he says it is not. Larry said they are the manufacture of their paper and Johns paper come out of UK. I was surprised.

Well, that's good to know. I wonder how I got them mixed up.

That's interesting that ironall comes from the UK, but so far, nobody in the UK has been able to find it. I wonder who the manufacturers are. I thought the manufacturers name was posted here a while back?

I don't think you got mixed up, there's just more information that wasn't previously available.

Yeah, odd. It can't be helping the price competitiveness. Promising for UK members.

I had ordered the kitchen sink pack a few months ago but hadn't tried it until a couple weeks ago. I really like the way it felt so I ordered some more and was sent some of the new iron all. Last night I was printing some more transfers and was paying more attention to the papers before inserting it into the printer. I noticed the paper had some flakes that stuck on from another sheet that flaked. I just gently pushed it a little with my nail and it came off. I am thinking when the paper was running through the printer the ink was getting on the flakes and loosinging it then when it came out of the printer there was not ink in that area. So now I just try and remove the flakes before printing.

The part about the paper coming from the UK was given to me by Visual and their saleman Larry. I am not sure he is correct. Just what he told me. I know that several companies are coming out with new paper that is supposed to be the "New PAPER". John also wrote me that there is a new Iron All for Darks coming. Now that one I will have to see. What can you do to it that makes it work on darks. Well you know I will keep you guys posted as I learn more. Badalou

Will trimming still be an issue with the darks?

I got a nice sample of printed vinyl (versacamm) for darks from Imprintables. It looks better than the DTG prints and there are no pre-treat issues. It is like a very thick screen print. The only thing I can see is if the shirt shrinks or if you stretch the shirt on pressing then the vinyl will pucker around the edges. Total cost to get started is about $14K plus shipping. That is still less than most DTG products and you get the vinyl cutting as well.

So I guess the answer to my question is I will be happy with the soft feel transfer from visual color. If there is a difference from Iron-All it wont be much.

I think that is good to say. I am presently printing and pressing Iron All transfers as I write this. One thing I would not have dared to do with the old Iron All was to place it in my rotary trimmer. It would leave a scratch where I trimmed. Just did 10 30 cuts and not a single problem with flacking or scratching. Here is another good thing. Drying, I have made several comments about the ink not drying quickly on Iron All. Well the new Iron All seems to be drying quick, I am handling it and touching the design with now problems. I want to make a comment here. When I preach about a product I am not doing it because I am getting paid or that I own part of the company. I just feel that if a product works and I believe in it I will tell you about it. The decision to buy it and try it is really up to you guys. I have gotten over 50 emails from all over the world this week. Argentina, Venezuela, UK, Australia to name a few and they almost all have been about iron all. I have gotten emails from people who have seen my video's on YouTube and did not know about the Forum, neddless to say they do now. You would think I owned the company that makes the paper.. No that is John and kathy. John even wrote me to thank me and as I told him, I tell it like it is. If it sucked I would say so... and that's my 2 cents. Lou

Heya Lou, I have the "new" Iron-all for testing. Just arrived.

Will be testing for the following:
Ink drying (so I can preprint and store)
Flaking
Running through a cutter (highly doubt this one)
Pizza wheeling on my CX4800
If I can use Magic Mix/Double Density Black that's in my older Epson 900

Will be reporting back to John and Kathy of New Milford Photo, Yahoo Group heat_transfers_for_desktop_printers (I have lots of old test reprots there)
and here.

Lou, don't know if I want to do a video like you
I'd have to clean up my office

I did note that the batch of Iron-All from October 2006 is MUCH IMPROVED
over earlier batches I received.

Susan

I was just searching the threads for preferred paper for inkjet transfers for lights and darks and see that IRONALL is the one for lights. Still confused about the darks as I see most say there is nothing top notch yet that exists. So still searching and I found this thread.

Has this new paper for darks come about yet?
