Default Custom transfers just arrived

My first order of custom transfers from First Edition have arrived. Simple white design going on black hoodies. Overall from talking to Janet to transfers at the door took about two weeks.

I warmed up the press and they printed perfectly. There was a bit of fine detail in an area of the graphic so Janet recommended cold peel. I have no problem with that as long as the print holds the detail and it does.

Needless to say...everything worked as I expected or rather hoped and the customer should be delighted with the end product.

Total width is 13.5" and I forget how tall. The transfers were printed on what First Edition calls an oversized sheet but that sheet isnt very large. I had two sleeve prints both 13.5" printed right under the main graphic all ganged onto one sheet. I will just cut the sleeve prints when I go to press the order.

One thing I am not crazed about is a sheen because of the cold peel. I prefer everything very matt finish. I may try and hot-split one of the test transfers and see if enough ink is available to render an image. I doubt it.

Be careful on the sleeve prints. I did a white transfers from First Edition, cold peel with adhesive, and some of the adhesive oversprayed on the paper, therefore, coming off on the sleeve. Left me a bit of a mess, but I just learned to really look over the transfer before pressing it to make sure and any extra was scraped off with my fingernail. janet is great and First edition is very helpful. My designs came out great. now I did them on navy hoodies to a girl's volleyball team and they were them CONSTANTLY. The only thing is that some of hte design faded. Is that normal with white? Or are these girls just washing them too much.

The shirt is folded in half (although it does look very low - a test shirt perhaps).

Yep...this is my test shirt...there are different images pressed all over on this thing. I was just looking for an open space. The transfers ordered are going on black hoodies.

I love working with First-Edition but the time factor is a problem. I brought home a mess of info that I need to go through when I get the chance and get some sample and discuss time. I had one guy tell me no more than 3 days. Now I need to find out who he was.. I have lost orders because of the time thing. Lou

Ok...I have been playing with these cold peel transfers trying to get the gloss effect caused by cold peeling gone. I tried a few samples as hot peel and they do work but dont transfer as much ink obviously. The effect is a much softer feel, not as opaque, sort of vintage look. I like them better this way and relayed the info to the customer. I am doing a wash test to see if the inks will hold up as only about half the ink transfers.

You might look at Howard Sportswear if you need faster turnaround times. After First Edition stopped replying to us we're moving on down the list of other reputable plastisol companies. Samples worked great, and they say that they can turn around orders within a day's time in most cases (144 sheets or less was the restriction I think).

I may go into more detail when they actually arrive and we've had more of a chance to work with the transfers. I think they're a little more expensive than FE, but the transfer quality (at least on the samples) was excellent.

I think the teflon sheet enhances the gloss actually.
