Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Im getting oversized HOT PEEL plastisol transfers made 25" X 12" in size and it is a 2 color job White, and Grey.
my problem is, i would like this to be on a black shirt. However many people including my supplier say that HOT peel and darks dont play nice together.
My question is what is the darkest color shirt i will be able to use ?
Why not get them done in cold peel. Who is your supplier?

I'm getting them from first edition and they don't have cold peel in that size.
call Janet at First Edition, tell her Lou said to call. Ask her to send a sample of the hot peel similar to what your going to use and then try it yourself. if you like the results then proceed. The sample does not have to be the size you are using, just a sample. Lou

Yes, you are right Rodney. I have too. He said something about the size. I don't know why that would be a problem.

i talked to amber and she said the biggest size for cold peel was 15X15. and anything large would be HOT peel, im also alittle confused but thats what she told me..
i have changed the design alttle it is now white and tan in color and am going to put it on a chocolate color shirt. the shirt is lighter do you guys think it will end up working out right?
i will call first edition again tomorrow and see what they have to say about my changes, and hope for the best.
I dont think First Edition is real comfortable with their hot-peel transfers on dark apparel. I know other companys excell at this technique. Cold peel transfers will give you excellent opaque coverage and detail but they will be glossy which I think is rubbish.
I hope they work on darker colors like navy and chocolate. We plan on using first edition hot peel and haven't tried them on dark shirts. Guess we better do that.

I think they go with a double print hot peel on darker colors. But, the cost is 1.5X the regular hot peel price.
I too have struggled with this as I don't like the glossy feel of cold peel. I guess it depends on how "open" the design is. Kinda like using vinyl where you want to avoid using large areas of vinyl.
