Default Am I getting ripped off? Vancouver

So, I'm wanting to get a small logo printed on the left breast side on a hoodie. I was thinking an American Apparel Women's 5399 zip hoodie and a local store quoted 50 dollars for the hoodie + 25 dollars for the print.

When I asked them what printing method they used, they said they use a "digital cadcut system". I'm not quite sure what that means. Anyway, the cost seems a bit excessive for me so I'm just wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives...Either locally in Vancouver or Online?

Thanks.

It maybe vinyl press. Even though it depends on the design, that's a little excessive for vinyl press.

Are you talking about just ONE hoodie? If so, then you won't be getting the lower wholesale prices.

What does the design look like? One color, many colors?

Lots of things can factor into the price.

Yup, just one hoodie. Two main colours, red and white... minumum

Max if I include another component of the logo is an additional 3 colours. Most of it are shades of one colour though.

Since I'm just buying one hoodie.... a 25 dollar printing fee seems a bit high for me because the total would be 75 and after tax.. 80 something.

If I bought online from say customink...it would be 44 for a hoodie (thought it would be Hanes nonzip rather than AA zip up). I'm really clueless about where to order from now...since I only want one unit. Have to taking custom fees/brokerage fees and shipping into account too.

Not to be rude, but the one you want is $75 and the one of lesser quality is $50. It doesn't seem excessive to me if you look at it that way.

2 colors, with setup time. You have to create a cut file from your art work. Are you giving them a picture, or a jpg?

$25 US is not to far off if they don't have a vector file to start with.

That is a cutter like the Roland GX-24.

Your final product would be made up of solid colors, no shades.

Well let's use a typical t-shirt example.

10 for the t-shirt + 20-25 for the printing fee = around 40 dollars after tax for a printed t-shirt. Is that the norm price for the printing technique that they are using?

Thanks for the info, likely I'll be supplying a JPEG since they don't offer any price reduction for a vector eps file... It's 20 for light colours and 25 for darker colours.

Unless they printed on the vinyl first and then cut it, right?

What color hoodie?

If it's just a white hoodie, you can get it printed by CafePress for about $25 USD: Custom Jr. Hoodie : Create a Custom Gift of Your Own at CafePress.com!

Actually retail is USD $38, which is about CAD $45 if the original prices were in Canadian Dollars (making $50 a reasonable small markup).
