Hi,
I've got an Epson 1280. Using the standard OEM ink cartridges but I'd like to switch to Durabrite or Magic Mix. If I'm understanding correctly the only way I can use these pigment inks is if I invest in a bulk feeding system because Durabrite and Magic Mix don't come in cartridges, right?
Many thanks,
CP
DURABrite is an OEM ink from Epson but according to their site, it's not available for the 1280. I don't believe it's available in bulk anywhere because Epson's goal is to keep you buying the carts.
I understand your concern -- it's tough to cough up that extra $200 for a CIS -- but it sounds as if you'll be able to try out the MM in cartridges. I am at that point right now of deciding whether to get the CIS, but I have heard that the per-print cost can be reduced from about 80 cents with cartridges to about 10 cents with the CIS. You will pay for the CIS in less than 300 prints.
I am now going to hop over to the thread started by spinningrock and see if anyone will post a recommendation for a CIS.
Thanks Trish,
I thought Durabrite was a pigment ink, not an OEM! I will definitely go to TLM for the Magic Mix cartridges. The reasons I don't want to go to CIS is it looks difficult to install and you can never put the top down on the printer after installing. If I start selling in quantity I'll do it for the economics of it.
Many thanks,
CP

Reason: fixed quoting
For some reason, I thought the ink cartridges that came with the epson 1280 were durabrite inks, but I learned this weekend that they weren't.
I looked at the chipped cartridges at personalizedsupplies.com, but I got a bit scared off by all the warnings on the page about messing up the printer if you don't install them right.
Is there any place else that sells pigment ink cartridges for the epson 1280?
