Default Can I get some advice about a CIS setup for my printers?

I have an Epson 1280 and C88. Right now my plan is to use the 1280 for tshirts using pigment ink (Magic Mix) and the C88 to use sublimation ink for smaller designs on mugs, mousepads, etc.

My budget is limited, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to set up a CIS on one or both of the printers. I can probably budget in $300 for each printer, but I'd like to spend less than that. I've shopped around, but I'm having a hard time finding something with a good reputation that's under $500.

I'm not planning on doing high volume printing just yet, but I most likely will, so I'd like to setup a CIS now if I can find an affordable way to do it.

Any thoughts from some experienced people about how I should go about setting up my ink systems? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You can find some tips on CIS with this link.

I know coastalbusiness.com has a CIS setup for the C88 on their site for around $200.

Lou has a video on how to set it up and use it here:

You have a guy right by you, RPL Supplies. He is in New Jersey.

The buld delivery systems for dyesub are the same price everywhere. The ink is $138 per pouch (one color each). The bulk delivery system is about $200 plus 4 inks would be about $800 for the C88 and $1200 for the 1280.

Thanks for the replys. I've spoken to the people at RPL before but Coastal offers cheaper pricing for inks and CIS.

From what I've been reading theres no cheap way of doing this, I guess I'm just going to have to pay the extra money to get my sub printer up and running and get throw aways to start off for my pigment printer.

I am using InkRepublic CIS which is very reputable in CIS market. (probably the best one).

I just checked their 1280 and C88/C88+ CIS, both are under $200,

Those CIS systems don't include sublimation ink. If you subtract the cost of the ink, the empty systems are still cheaper at Coastal. So it seems like it's more about where to find cheap bulk sublimation ink than the CIS itself.

I did not notice you were talking about the whole bundle deal.
well... cheaper is not "better"
the more important is its reliability.
clogging, downtime, damage printer...etc.
if you have tried different cis before, you would know what i am talking about.

You may think about going with refillable carts.they are alot simpler to use than CIS .Ive been using carts from inkjetcart.us for some time now with no problems whatsoever.the empty carts are only about $15 a set. They have good pig. ink too.400 + prints no problem.

I think it's this place:

Although I've never heard of that place. I know personalizedsupplies.com sells prefilled ink cartridges and refills

Good things are seldom cheap and cheap things are seldom good.
I have (2)1280's with continuous ink systems. Spend the money on a good company who stands behind their products not because they're cheaper.
BestBlanks.com is where I got my CIS for transfer ink and another company for my sublimation ink.

Actually, when I was doing my research on what CIS system to try for, I found very mixed results. Contrary to what you might think, how well people did with them and liked them was NOT correlative to price. People seemed to have about equal luck with $50 systems as they had with $300 systems. It was really difficult to find any one brand that was recommended en masse by either this community or the HTFDP Yahoo board.

That said, your best bet would likely be to go with a company you already trust if possible, such as Best Blanks, Coastal, etc.
