Default nozzles still clogged - not really -

Hello everyone. I have a problem that almost everyone experiences on the epson 4880. Cloggled heads

I have a slight twist on this.

My heads are NOT Clogged but the printer thinks they are. The printer will not stop cleaning the heads.
I have turned the machine off. I have unplugged it.

As soon as I turn the printer on or send a print job to it it startes cleaning the heads again. It is very clear that the heads are clean because the blocks that it prints are completely solid.

I tried to find a thread that mentions this problem but I could not find one.

It has cleaned so much that the maintenance tank had to be cleaned.

This printer has been a nightmare. I purchased solely of t-shirt printing. It has never had the original inks intalled. I started off with the sawgrass inks hybrid ink system. I have since changed to MIS Inks and the problems still continues. It does not matter what inks I used I have always wasted ink on cleaning. Now the printer in in virtual cleaning mode and I can not get it to stop.

Has anyone seen this one ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Denny

I have a stylus pro 4800 so it could be different, i dont believe my model has virtual cleaning mode (i could be wrong). I have nozzel check and then as a last resort power cleaning which wastes alot of ink. It could be an internal sensor problem. Non the less you should call the support line in your manual. They will walk you step by step on the phone what to do. It should not be cleaning without your permission unless you have nozzel check set on default everytime you turn the printer on. I know it's frustrating, good luck!

I know of no printer that knows whether or not it has a clogged head.

Does it do it randomly or some thing like the start of every print job?

If its just at the start of the job, there maybe a setting in the printer that is telling it to do so.

I have the same problem on film, the printer is expecting paper when it 'reads' the blocks. If it senses a break, and that can be transparent film or tshirt material weave or the print being too far away, it continues cleaning.
Can you put some card or paper in the right position?

Both of you guys were correct.
There is a setting in the 4880 maintenance >Printer setup> <Auto Nozzle Check>
I turned that off and everything is ok now.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I was sure that I had not made any adjustments on the printer.

This site is a great site for all things T-Shirt and I sure appreciate you all.

I checked mine > it was off, I obviously stopped that a while ago :-)
