Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I am trying to print with foil. I screen print the adhesive, cure it, then place the garment on the heat transfer machine foil on top and wait 15 seconds @ 325 degrees, do a cold peel. My problem is when I use gold it seems to have specs of glitter that are coming off of it, and my silver doesn't shine at all or not as well as the gold. Im wondering what can I do to prevent and fix this. I purchased my foils from Ryonet, if it helps. Thanks
We use 60 or 86 mesh, Union ink direct foil adhesive with some Unilon powder added for extra adhesion. Cure at 320 if printed along with wb ink, then heat press 350 for 8 seconds, high pressure. If printing foil only, we gel cure it in the dryer then heat press. It seems to lose some adhesion the hotter it gets.
Running it through the dryer at a low temp to cure they top layer. The adhesive seems to adhere better either directly from the print press to the heat press, or being gel cured through the dryer. Curing it at a really high temp makes it lose some of it's adhesion.
