Default A Dumb Question

Hi All, sorry to ask a dumb question, (I am new to heat press transfers) but how do I put text only on a T shirt? Do I have to print it on transfer paper then cut around the text then heat press it. Or do I have to buy a cutting system?
Is everything none to an A4 size?
I guess I thought that the ink came off the paper and impregnated itself into the fabric... maybe I am just dumb. thanks ED

When you're in the woods and lost there's no such thing as a dumb question. I'm new also to this but...here goes. I plot text on special heat-transfer vinyl, (dont forget to reverse all images) and/or print on my wide format printer (full-color) and then just apply. Nuttin to it That is a very basic answer that involves much discussion which is already on this forum. Just do a search and have fun. Good luck, Phillip

Some transfer papers transfer better than others without leaving a film. And some color shirts accept transfers better than other colors.

Generally, if you are transferring to a white shirt, a good transfer like Jet Pro Soft Stretch will not show the polymer residue from the transfer. Otherwise, it's better if you cut. You don't have to have a plotter to cut your transfers, you can use scissors. Scissors are harder, of course.

You could also purchase individual letters that can be applied.
