Default Re: Software question

Adobe Illustrator is a very popular one, but pretty expensive. I think $600. There are others though like GIMP which are open source.

You'll probably get all kinds of opinions on this...in the end you just have to read, research and make an informed decision based on what you read.

All the software will have a learning curve, and for some people, designing their own graphics may never happen (depending on their level of comfortableness with computers)

You can read all types of suggestions and opinions on which software others are using and have used here:

IMO, choose 1 vector based graphic program, 1 raster based graphic program and 1 layout program(or use the vector based program as the layout program). That should cover nearly everything you'd want to design on a T-shirt.

A good place to start is Raven, a free online vector editing/design tool.

I have Corel X3 and AI. I think the AI is easier, but do 90% of our art with the Corel. Also, I recently bought the Smart Designer and that has helped a lot.

I think it is what you learn on and get used to. I am nothing but a beginner, but this is my .02 cents, for what it's worth (.02 cents).
