This is my first two color project. I have read and watched enough video to wreck someone's brain. How do I make sure that the white sections are separated correctly before I burn the image on the screen? I use Corel Draw x4? whippers 92509 - Google Docs

Thanks for the help in advance.
Perhaps you can try to use Adobe Illustrator CS3
to see the colour seperated.Just a thought.......
I don't use Corel but maybe it has the same feature as Illustrator regarding the 'spot' colors. In Illustrator you assign a spot color for each object color and you can go into the spot swatch and alter it it see if all the object for that spot color are correctly assigned that spot color. You do this by double clicking the spot swatch, that brings up a window that allows you to change/rename the color and cmyk or rgb values allowing you to see the objects that change color.
Are you doing an under base for the white?
also, i noticed there's some minor glitches in the art work. example; the small white gap in the blue outline around the football. May want to correct that or it will look like something was stuck in the screen when printed.

Yes I am going to use white as an underbase. Do you think I should do something different? The customer wants the outline of the whippers and athletics text to have the white around the blue. That is what I want to make sure I get done correctly.
K, i haven't used Corel since Corel6 and that only had pages, so what i did back then was do each color as a group, that way i could move the color sequence around to see if everything was layered correctly and trapped/chocked enough (using move object to front and move to back). This was a long way of doing things but it worked well for proofing.
Instead of using white to represent the white ink and under base you can use different colors (i tend to use bright colors not in the original design for this) this helps to visually see them. You can also put a temporary large square of color in the background instead so its not on a white background (i believe you could change the page color in Corel but this was simple and quicker for me)
This is the old easy way of doing seps, a bit long but worked well for me when the apps didn't have all the handy features they do now.
That's funny.Initially I tried the different color method and tossed the separations away without trying it thinking it wouldn't work. So, I am going to try it again and let you know how it goes. Tks Again.
Try this: make sure the colors are spot colors, select print, then click print separations. This will then show you the colors that you can print. You should only see the 2 spot colors - white and blue. If you see cmyk colors checked, then you have process colors. You can look at the print previews to see what objects are which color. To print the blue, just check that box and print. To print the underlay, just change the blue to white and print the white.
