I am using Adobe CS4 and am trying to convert text to dst format using drawings converter but only get the background on Forte' not the text. Any thoughts from the experts?

I have no idea what DST format is.

Did you expand the text before exporting it?

A dst file is a file read by a tajima or toyota machine. I am trying to get Illustrator to save the file of some text and drawings converter opens the file but all I get is background and not the text. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

how about CONVERTING all text to OUTLINE?
[select all text....goto menu TYPE....CreateOutlines...then...menu Object...Expand]

What Forte software do you have? That is where you are going to do it...there is not really a need for Illustrator in this situation.

All you need to do is use the TrueType Font Converter...if you have the PD version then you can do it. If not then PM me and I can convert it for you. Troy
