Exclamation Can anyone please help me out transfering a trace to CutStudio?

Hi,

How do I transfer or import a trace I did in Illustrator using the Live trace into Roland Cut Studio?

Everytime I copy/paste the file from Illustrator to Cut Studio it transfers it like an image without the trace lines

and I can not save it and import it to Cutstudio b/c it says it has a bad format

and I already installed the plugin for it

Save it from illustrator as a legacy format. I think you need version 3. Then cutstudio will then be able to import ok.

Open Illustrator and go to the file you want. Open it and then just go to Window then click on cut studio plug in. When that pops up just click on the big R and that file will open up in Cut Studio. Hope that helps.

I use Illustrator on the mac and I got this same error when the plugin wasn't compatable. Specifically on the mac it was the powerPC/Intel binaries, and I had to run illustrator in rosetta for the plugin to work. So, I wonder, is the plugin really CS4 compatible or maybe not with your windows version?

I copy and paste from Illustrator and Photoshop into Cut Studio and then go to Image > Image Outline and let Cut Studio trace it. Then you can
resize it or rotate it. If you are using an image from Photoshop make sure it's at a high resolution when you paste it. It will look very big then after you let Cut Studio trace it you can make it a lot smaller. You get a much better trace this way with a raster image. With Illustrator it does matter.

is this the first problem you've had with cutstudio? i run it through the plugin in cs3 on a mac. i know i had a problem because i thought that all i had to do to install the plugin was to drag it to the plugins folder of illy and i didn't install the rest of the items that came on the cd. after doing that i've had no problems. you can also go to the roland forum and see if anyone else has had this problem. what version illy are you using? i don't think cutstudio is compatible with cs4 yet.
