Steps on how to turn a drawing into a T-Shirt [help]
How do I turn a drawing, such as this one;
...on to a T-Shirt. I was thinking of a heat transfer system, but I was unsure. I was thinking of making a drawing like this but with black and white shading, but I was worried that the shading will completely mess up the T-shirt. Also, do you advise me to edit a picture like this? I was thinking of hiring a master illustrator user to master edit this.
I hope you can help, please post if you have any tips.
p.s. my budget is $300, I can't but a $1000, it's out of my range.

The best way to put this on a shirt for cost is a tranfer, if the color is going to be a black and white drawing use a white T'shirt, if you are going to put color in it use a colored tranfer paper. To do this it should cost that much, it depends on how many you are going to make.

if you scan the image, and then use live trace on illustrator your will be able to tidy the image up and the either print it on t-shirt masterial or cut it on a plotter(you may need to use a thicker pen to get a consistent outline, hope this helps

Thanks for your responses. They helped a lot.
If I ask a highly experienced artist to remaster this drawing, what should I ask him to do to change it. I was thinking of telling the artist to paint/pastel/color pencil the drawing, including shading . Also I'll tell he/she to go over it and make the lines thicker with a sharpy or a thick pen. After it's done i'll cut it out with adobe photoshop, and put it on a transparent background, and will be ready for a heat transfer print. That being said, without editing it with adobe illustrator; will it still be worth buying?
Also, what kind of heat transfer print should I buy under $300

To make your design more tidy for heat transfer print , the direct way is to ask one designer to redraw it.Meanwhile if you need any colour,he will help you fill the colour.After get it clear and good looking,you need to convert the redrawn file to vector file wich is compatible with your heat transfer. Hoping it will help you a little.

Something like that is child's play to redraw in Illustrator either by automated trace procedures or by hand. Having said that, if you're going to keep it just to Black ink only, then I suggest a high resolution scan to capture all the bits and nudges that a hand drawing possesses.
Adding shading will not complicate the process that much, IMO.
