Question Inkscape print preview?

I have searched for an answer for this question for days.. Is there certain a plug in for me to "print preview" in Inkscape?

I love this program but I can seem to get a print preview of my work before I send to my Epson 1400.

Thank you all for the many late nights of learning and reading all the threads..Ive learned so much.

There's usually an option in the Epson driver (to preview prior to printing?)

I had the same prob.
go to file and select print-dont hit the icon in menu bar- the print window should pop up and you need to select advanced preferences- from there go through the various preference windows and one should have a box in it which you need to check that says "preview before printing"- or something like that. then select print. after a couple of seconds a window should pop up with your print preview and from there you can print or cancel.

anyway, thats the way i did it. hope this works for you.

Have you tried printing to pdf? You can install an open source pdf printer such as pdfcreator, that will give you a chance to view the plates?

I recommend exporting as a pdf to preview your final plate rather then doing a straight print.

Its one extra step but still worth it since inkscape is an easy program to use.

That sounds great, but I can only see the 'export as bitmap' option. What am I missing?

What Dave is trying to say is that you should install a software that has a .PDF writing, for example is Adobe Acrobat Pro which installs a .PDF writer/printer as an additional printer for your output which is ".PDF"

If you have MS Office Pro, your computer is installed with an additional printer that generates a softcopy of the print job whenever this printer is selected to do the output like "ONENOTE"

Goodluck.

Actually there is an open source pdf printer called PDFCreator:
PDFCreator | Get PDFCreator at SourceForge.net
I have Acrobat Professional CS4 and I still use PDFCreator!

btw for PostScript in Inkscape you usually need Ghostscript to be installed.

Romano....since Inkscape is free there is no official manual or users guide but there are some tutorials on YouTube and there are some 'how to' books in the larger book stores like Barnes and Noble. You might look at Amazon or eBay. It s not a program you learn overnight. If one is we to design, there is a substantial learning curve. Keep at it, if I can do anyone can

Google 'Inkscape tutorials' and you will get at least 7 sites with various tutorials
