Hey guys. This is my first post here, but ive been reading your forum for a while now. And I`m hoping maybe you guys can help me out with a bump that I have hit.

I do all of my designing in Illustrator CS4...and I cut with Flexi pro 8.1

We just aquired a wide-format printer, (a HP designjet 500). I know this is a low end printer...but I got it for free because it needed an encoder strip lol. But it works perfect now.

My problem is that when I import my image into illustrator (for print), I draw a path around where I want it to cut (assuming this would be the cut path). then i align the image and path and send the path to the back..I save it as a .AI and as Illustrator 8 (to make it compatible with flexi). Then i open it in flexi and click File/Rip and Print ... choose my printer and when I try to add the registration marks under the Advanced tab, the CONTOUR button is greyed out. So I cant get to the reg. marks.

I am assuming that somehow I have to mark or label the path as a cut path or something, but I`m not sure where to go from here.

Any help would be appreciated.

in illustrator, you need make the color of the path a spot color and name it "CutContour". Then make the stroke size for the path .003

Thanks a ton mate..i saw that you had to do this for Versaworks, but it never clicked to try it for flexi lol.

It worked fine to get the reg. marks on etc. I`m still having a little trouble getting it to cut it

It now locates all four reg. marks but then cuts the image up...im not sure exactly what it is doing. It may be trying to cut it landscape instead of port. or something..not sure yet.

But thanks so much for the info, it got me over the hurdle
