Default Can I make screens from this? 800 x 600 at 72 dpi

Long time lurker, first time poster here!

This is only my 4th job, and I have a question about the artwork that I was supplied. The guy sent me an 800 x 600 72 DPI file. I'm not sure if this would make a good screen or if I should have it redrawn in illustrator.

Here is the File:
http://img18.yfrog.com/img18/1500/rhinogold1.jpg

He wants it full size on the shirt with words around it.

What do you guys think? Would this make a great shirt, or should I redo the image?

Thanks!

That look's awful. Tell him to send it to you with a 300 dpi.

Recreate that. If you print it and it looks like crap your name is still involved with it.

Exactly. I would never print something like that. And like i mentioned before that design look's awful. Have him redo it.

Actually, that's not hard at all to trace in illy. It's an easy one to recreate.

Thanks everyone - That's what I thought, but I haven't dealt with bad artwork before so I didn't know how bad it could be to still make a good screen.

my 2 cents...
I would advise them that the artwork is not ideal and that if they still want you to use it, then have something for them to sign basically saying that they understand "crap in = crap out".
If they want you to recreate it you could do one of two options...
1. recreate it and charge like $60 to do it.
2. use one of the $15 online vector redrawing places and still charge $60 (you get $45 for doing nothing).

hope that helps.

The edges are pixelated so your print is going to not have smooth lines but jagged edges.

You can vector trace it with settings adjustments and clean it up or trace it and manually clean up the nodes.

Definitely can not be printed. Luckily it is very easy to clean up and trace using your corel/illustrator 'live trace' type function... i did a quick trace using illustrator that took 30 seconds.. i uploaded it for you to see. Its will still need a good 15-20 mins of clean up to be perfect but its a start. good luck.
