I suppose I can re-create it, but I am looking for an easier way of doing it. I've always used Trace and it worked great. Now, I am just trying to find a similar program that can do a better job. Dunno if that is possible.

Thanks!
Do it in Photoshop,
1. Change color mode to Grayscale
2. Adjust image RESOLUTION to 1000 DPI
3. Adjust Exposure,Offset,Gamma
>>> Image > Adjustment > Exposure...
Re: Help with tracing an image for screen printing
just recreate it like david said. the kicker is the only thing you should worry about tracing. it's just a box with lines and a sans serif font. looks like helvitca, (off hand). this way you'll have the file for future use.
Re: Help with tracing an image for screen printing
I would follows jsf method aswell since I believe it will work. But you can try this too:
In Photoshop,
1. Change color mode to Grayscale 2. Change color mode to Bitmap 3. Adjust Output to 300 pixels/inch and use Halftone Screen. 4. Adjust the Halftone Scree Frequency depending on what size u would want the pixels. (Use 65 if not sure.) 5. Leave the angle as default, then change shape to round. Click ok.
Then just print it to the film. This should leave everything in halftone dots which should maintain the fade of the text as is on the scan.
But I would just re-create the work to make it look better.

I usually just blow the image up on my copy machine to a sheet of translucent vellum.
If you try to convert this image to a vector, you'll spend spend much of the rest of your life straightening lines and fixing curves.
You can achieve a good image with a good copy machine.

Hi!
All the above will not work unless you do the design manually. Please PM me and we will be glad to help. No charge at all. Do you have a better resolution? There are some words we cannot read. My email is digitizingfactory at gmail.com

It's very insulting to say that other people's ideas won't help at all. Why not just suggest something and not down other's help?
All of the suggestions are actually very helpful. If it was me I'd either replicate it, or enhance the artwork in Photoshop like others have suggested. The only thing I would even consider tracing is the handwritten numbers and the little football guy. If you're going the photoshop route then I suggest that you definitely scan the picture at a higher resolution. No lower than 600 dpi should do the trick
Good luck with this and I hope it comes out great.
