Can this (So called) Logo be printed on a t-shirt by screenprinting?
Hey,
I got a logo from a client which they want screen-printed on a white t-shirt. Here it is:
I have never been able to get an image like this screen-printed that is. Well I just prepare the films with either Photoshop or Illustrator, I don't do the actual screen-printing.
Can anyone here tell me if this (so-called) Logo can be screen-printed to look exactly like it appears on screen? If yes, I would appreciate some suggestions.
Re: Can this (So called) Logo be printed on a t-shirt by screenprinting?
I think that would be a difficult one with the amount of colors and gradients it has. Have you looked into sub contracting to a dtg printer? They would be able to do it exactly like it looks, and you would not need to have a huge amount of screens and setup fees that would be involved. I am not sure about screen printing. I have heard alot about process screen printing, so maybe someone that knows about that will jump in, but to me I think it would be a great print for a dtg printer.

I'll let the pros comment on how to print it, but it can be screen printed.
As far as "so called" logos.... When I was doing a lot of web, and logo design I saw that stuff all the time. People couldn't understand that a logo should be quickly, and easily recognized, and fairly easy to reproduce in all mediums.
I dealt with several kennels, and they would want a picture of 2 of their dogs (or more), along with gold, or silver 3d lettering, and photoshop filters on everything. "do some lightning, make the edges different colors, do dem filters" THEN call that a logo, and want it on business cards, shirts, black and white flyers, etc. /rant

It could be printed 4 color CMYK process on lights no problem, or it could be like 10 simulated process colors, but CMYK would be the most cost effective screen printing.
Re: Can this (So called) Logo be printed on a t-shirt by screenprinting?
Looking at the colors on that, it could probably be done in a simulated process in 5 colors on white shirts and 6 colors on black. I've been abel to produce photo qaulity images on shirts using this process. You could also do an index seperation as well, pulling the colors you would need from the art work, using photoshop, and limit it to the screens you have or want to use to print this design.

Definately can be screen printed, especially on white. Call Target Graphics in Illinois and you'll end up with award winning results. You didn't give an indication of the order size?
I'm a fan of DTG in the right market segments but I've got to tell you, most of my larger corporate customers will not accept it as an alternative for a good screen print. And once you get up to about 200 pieces, the price equation tilts towards screen printing anyway. Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Re: Can this (So called) Logo be printed on a t-shirt by screenprinting?
Appreciate all the help. The problem I face is the fact that I don't know about any person in my area that does DTG. Adding to that I live outside the USA in a country called Belize. So I am a bit badly off. Maybe I should get some of the equipment that does DTG, and maybe I make some more money.
What I had in mind was to re-create the logo the best I can in Illustrator and use pixels with some of the colors. I will see how it comes out. Which I doubt will be close to it.
Sometimes I wonder how some clients think that anything can be printed on a T-shirt with ease. Though maybe they can and I just don't know how its done yet. hehe..

Quite agree with you on the that. Some people tend to be awed by gradients and bevels. I wish they knew better, it would make my job quite easier.
